So since it's been so long since I've really posted I thought I'd do an update for everyone.
So in March I had my big surgery! Excision surgery with the amazing Dr. Alice Pham in Toronto! She was so amazing. Walked me into the operating room and held my hand until I was asleep. She was even at my bedside when I woke up after surgery.
Now it had been a year and a half since my last "surgery". She found endo outside my uterus, around my bladder, on my appendix, ovaries and some big cysts on my intestines. She removed it all and cut in pretty deep.
I had planned to spend the next week at my boyfriend's apartment (he took a week off to take care of me). By the second day I was close to finishing all the meds they gave me and was constantly crying in pain. So we went to the local hospital in my town and I was admitted for pain control for 3 days.
The one thing I was not completely comfortable with in my surgery was having a mirena iud placed in my uterus. I have always used continuous birth control and was happy with that treatment, but my doctor insisted it was the best plan.
So after all that mess recovery got better. I did unfortunately miss the ENDOMARCH because it was 2 weeks after surgery.
3 months after surgery I went for a follow up and begged my doctor to remove the mirena. It was causing a lot of pain and bleeding. But she wouldn't, she asked me to give it another months. A month after that I ended up in the ER for the first time since my recovery. My father pushed to have a gyno consult and the DR agreed to remove my IUD. It took a while as the Dr could not locate the strings. But once out we learned one side had bent and must have been pushing into the side of my uterus.
So after that things have been going very well. I haven't had a hospital visit again until this past weekend. I had been having some sharp pains and been throwing up like crazy! I was so happy to have an amazing understanding Dr in the ER (which is very rare). She got an IV in me right away and send me off for an ultrasound. She also made sure to tell the nurse to give me more pain medication whenever I asked. So Scans showed I had a few cysts on my left ovary, they were cutting off the blood slow to said ovary.
So I followed up with my family doctor and was told to rest and keep off my feet and hope the cysts either shrunk or popped on their own.
Thankfully, with all the pain I have had this past week they have popped. And thank God for my amazing family doctor keeping me all filled up with pain meds so I could handle it all!
A piece of advice for anyone new to chronic pain! NEVER settle for a Dr that doesn't treat your pain seriously! Keep looking. I went through 5 family doctors since I was 18 to find the amazing one I have now. She takes my pain very seriously and includes my input in all medical decisions.
Well time to take my meds and get some rest.
I hope you all have a below 5 night.
xoxo
