sSo first off I want to say, any non-spoonie people reading this; when a person with chronic illness catches a cold it is so much worse than when you have one. So i don't want to see any comments "everyone gets colds, suck it up"
So anyone new to the chronic illness life, you are not imagining it when you think its harder for you to fight a cold than others. Having a chronic illness weakens your immune system and your body's defense system in general!
For me, living in Canada, winter just means i'm going to be sick constantly. But here are some tips I have learned over the past couple years to help with a spoonie cold.
1. Go to walmart, in the baby section they have apple juice with added immunity boosters! This is your new best friend.
2. Always have hand sanitizer and a medical face mask in your bag. For me being in the same room as someone with a cold pretty much guarantees i'll be sick the next day, so don't be afraid to wear the mask or whip out the sanitizer.
3. Halls with vitamin C drops. These 1 taste good for halls, help with a sore throat and they have vitamin C to help boost you up.
4. SELF CARE. As much as you want to push through it will only hurt you more in the end. Take the time to rest and recover. (See my post on self care)
Sorry this is short, but i'm sure you can tell from this topic I am sick. So i'm off to go take a warm bath and back to bed.
